The article, “Conversations with a lady taxi driver” (Dec. 10), though a relatively light read, reflected on a couple of issues in connection with the safety and well-being of women in particular and that of society in general. In a country where ordinary sentiments are manipulated by vested interests, it underscored the necessity for public and personal vigilance against communal propaganda as being essential for the survival of a nation like India. It is sad that we are being robbed of these great values our forefathers once fought for. The way the taxi driver dealt with her problems was a lesson on life.
