Kashmir crisis

The Kashmir crisis is getting murkier with different political parties taking different views while the government sees it as a mere law and order problem. Deaths are reported almost daily in police action and more youth take to the streets indicating that the people of the Valley are still not emotionally integrated with India. Added to this, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who initially held out so much hope with claims of administrative accountability, has failed to live up to expectations. It is sad that no opposition leader has come forward to find an amicable solution to the problem. It is time the Centre took all leaders into confidence and went beyond the Constitution to bring durable peace in the Valley.
