The article, “ >Electoral wins or religious peace? ” (May 19), is replete with exaggerations and lacking in substance and originality. It capitalises on the reservations and suspicions towards Hindutva among the masses and fails to give any compelling reasons to believe the view of the writers except for traditional arguments of the secular forces against Hindutva.
I fail to understand why the peaceful consolidation of majority community, being labelled as “soft Hindutva”, causes so much anxiety in India. Do we want the Hindu community to be perpetually divided on caste, linguistic and regional lines? What surprises me all the more is the silence of Hindutva detractors over the consolidation of minority vote banks by political parties, under the banner of their self-styled “secularism”.
