Clarification

The article “Pokhran-II thermonuclear test, a failure” (Sept. 17) by K. Santhanam and Ashok Parthasarathi indicates that I, as Chief Controller R&D, DRDO, attended a meeting — in late 1998 — along with A.P.J. Abdul Kalam. I did not attend any such meeting nor was I involved in any discussion on this topic at that stage. I am writing this so that this clarification may appear in the newspaper.
