This refers to the two-part interview (April 12 & 13) of N. Ram, Editor-in-Chief, The Hindu, with Julian Assange, Editor-in-Chief, WikiLeaks. WikiLeaks best illustrates that the pen is mightier than the sword. As Mr. Assange says, “treat the region as a whole as opposed to just one country.” An issue that requires attention is the protection of whistleblowers and individuals who have helped the WikiLeaks gather information. Thanks to Mr. Ram, The Hindu and Mr. Assange for helping us move towards a better world.

Mr. Assange is right in saying that Dr. Singh's disputation of the authenticity of the India Cables means he has the habit of reactively covering up allegations of corruption. The cables are an eye-opener. How long can people be kept in the dark about rampant corruption happening every day?

One only hopes that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh will read The Hindu dated April 12 & 13, and declare a war on corruption. For historians, the WikiLeaks documents are good source material.

The interview was insightful. Mr. Assange's words should have an impact on the conscience of not only journalists but also responsible citizens. He will be remembered for revolutionising the flow of information through “cable journalism.” The efforts of WikiLeaks in educating the common man are praiseworthy.
