Two sent to jail for recruiting people for IS

Two men charged with the criminal conspiracy to raise funds and recruit people for the Islamic State (IS) were sentenced to seven years imprisonment each by a Delhi court on Friday.

Azhar-ul-Islam from Jammu and Kashmir and Mohammed Shaikh from Maharashtra had pleaded guilty, saying that they are remorseful. They admitted to the charges about a month after the court decided to send them for trial.

"The applicants are pleading guilty without any pressure, threat, coercion or undue influence,” the accused had said in their joint application.

Last month, the court framed charges against both the accused and Adnan Hassan (36) for allegedly hatching a criminal conspiracy to raise funds and recruit people for the IS.
