P. Nedumaran, president of the Ulaga Tamizhar Peramaippu, along with 80 of his supporters were released from the Tiruchi Central Prison on Friday morning, following the bail granted by the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court.

Speaking to presspersons outside the prison after his release, Mr. Nedumaran claimed that the government has foisted the case against him and demanded action against the officials who demolished the portion of the compound wall and a park in front of the Mullivaikkal Memorial in Thanjavur.

Mr. Nedumaran said he will approach the court for re-establishing the park.

Even though the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court granted bail for Mr. Nedumaran and his supporters on Wednesday, he was not released from Tiruchi Central Prison on Thursday, as the needed orders were not received by the prison authorities till late Thursday evening.

M. Natarajan, Editor, 'Pudiya Paarvai', members of the Ulaga Tamizhar Peramaippu, cadre of Marumalrchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Naam Tamizhar Katchi and other organisations fighting for the cause of Tamils, received Mr. Nedumaran at the prison entrance.
