DMK slams AIADMK for 'anti-democratic attitude'

Says DMK members are denied opportunity to explain position

Condemning the AIADMK government for what it alleged “anti-democratic attitude” in the legislature, the DMK on Saturday said Opposition members were unable to carry out their democratic duties in the Assembly.

A resolution to this effect was adopted at the DMK State, district and city youth wing functionaries meeting held in the city presided over by party treasurer and youth wing secretary M.K. Stalin.

Stating that baseless allegations were being made and “wrong information” provided in the Assembly by the AIADMK ministers with respect to welfare schemes implemented during the DMK regime, the party claimed that opportunity was being denied to DMK members to explain their party’s position.

Another resolution said the party’s youth wing would conduct meetings across the State to explain the situation to the people.

Claiming that law and order in the State had deteriorated, another resolution said crimes such as murder, robbery, rape and sexual assault had become a day-to-day phenomenon, causing hardship to all sections of society.

Earlier, speaking to reporters, Mr. Stalin said the verdict to be given by the people in the next Parliamentary elections would be the scorecard for the AIADMK’s two-year rule. He said the DMK would not be cowed down by cases registered against its functionaries.
