Even while the cadre of the unified AIADMK-led by Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvam celebrated the allotment of the two leaves symbol to the ruling faction, the supporters of sidelined party deputy general secretary T.T. V. Dhinakaran blocked the traffic for some time protesting against the Election Commission decision.
The unified AIADMK cadre led by V. Panneerselvam, MP, G. Venkatachalam and A. B. Sakthivel, both MLAs, gathered in large number and fired crackers.
They also garlanded the statues of the leaders and also distributed sweets to the party men and the passersby.

The cadre said that the partymen were longing for the symbol and the allotment of the same will further strengthen the party.
Meanwhile, a group of supporters who had assembled at Kondalampatti to accord reception to Mr. Dhinakaran resorted to road roko condemning the Election Commission’s decision.
After Mr. Dhinakaran left, his supporters raised slogans against Mr. Palaniswami and Mr. Panneerselvam.

Due to the sudden agitation, vehicular traffic was affected for a few minutes, police sources said.
In Namakkal, the AIADMK cadre, led by Electricity Minister P. Thangamani took out a victory rally in Namakkal town on Thursday.
Earlier the Minister and other leaders garlanded the statue of MGR and other leaders and distributed sweets to the partymen.
Speaking to the reporters, the Minister said that the unified AIADMK could get back the symbol as Jayalalithaa’s soul (Amma) was supporting it.
