Rahul Gandhi to tour TN from Sept. 8

Continuing his efforts to strengthen the party at the grassroots, AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi would undertake a three-day tour of Tamil Nadu from September 8.

The Congress is out of power in the state since 1967.

Mr. Rahul would kick-off his visit with a meeting of youth Congress activists at Nagercoil on September 8 and party workers at Tirunelveli, Virudhunagar and Madurai the same day, the TNCC president K.V. Thangkabalu told reporters here on Saturday.

He would also have an interaction with students of Madurai Kamaraj University on that day.

Mr. Rahul would meet Congress workers and farmers at Thanjavur and Vellore besides meeting students of Christian Medical College at Vellore on September 9. He would participate in the TNCC executive at Chennai the same day.

On September 10, he would meet youth Congressmen at Salem, Krishnagiri and Coimbatore, Thangkabalu said.

Mr. Rahul would also monitor the membership enrolment drive launched by the youth congress in the state, he said.

The Congress is supporting the Karunanidhi Government from outside in the state.
