Rahul’s Thanjavur visit a high security affair

Visit of Rahul Gandhi, M.P., All India general secretary of the Congress party, to Thanjavur on September 9, will be a high security affair.

Youth congress members and farmers with whom Mr. Gandhi is expected to inter-act have been identified and identity cards issued to them. They will be taken in a vehicle to Kandhasaras Marriage hall on Medical College road, venue of the meeting and dropped. No other person including media persons will be allowed into the venue.

Barricade at Ganapathy Nagar (near Annai Sathya stadium) on Medical College Road and Mangalapuram (on Medical college side) will filter people entering into the zone in which the Marriage hall is located. As per the tour programme, Mr. Gandhi, who lands at Air force station by helicopter from Madurai will drive to the Marriage hall. He will attend the meeting between 8.45 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Youth congress workers from Thanjavur, Mayilduthurai, Nagapattinam, Tiruchi and Perambalur Lok Sabha constituencies will meet him in the first floor of the Marriage hall. Young farmers identified by the party from the same Lok Sabha constituencies will be kept at the marriage hall main floor and Gandhi will inter-act with them. According to a communication received by the police, even photos of the meeting will be released to the press only by the party which will get the photos from select photographers who accompany Mr. Gandhi.

After finishing the meeting, Gandhi leaves for Villupuram by helicopter. One thousand policemen will be on duty during Mr. Gandhi’s visit.
