A day after the Supreme Court cancelled the conditional bail of S. Yuvaraj, the prime accused in the murder of Dalit youth V. Gokulraj, he was produced in Namakkal court and was sent to judicial custody till September 8, 2016.
The Namakkal CB-CID team that arrested him in Chennai on Wednesday evening reached Namakkal at 2.45 a.m. on Thursday. He was kept at the CB-CID office and was taken to the residence of Chief Judicial Magistrate S. Malarmathy at 6 a.m. as Principal District Judge S. Ramathilagam is on leave. The magistrate asked the team to produce him at the court at 9 a.m.
When the court assembled, Mr. Yuvaraj said that seven cases were pending against him in courts in Salem, Erode, Namakkal, and Karur districts. Since he is appearing in all the cases, travelling from Vellore Central Prison to these places is difficult for him and hence requested the magistrate to lodge him at Salem Central Prison.

The magistrate asked Mr. Yuvaraj to present his request before the PDJ during the next hearing since she was only holding additional charge. The magistrate remanded him in judicial custody for 15 days and ordered him to be lodged at Vellore jail. Later, amid tight security, he was taken to Vellore and lodged at the prison.
Sources said that while on conditional bail, Yuvaraj released three audio clippings through social media in which he said that the accused in techie S. Swathi’s murder case will be punished. After the beheaded body of Gokulraj was found on railway track near Pallipalayam on June 24, 2015, Yuvaraj was on the run for three months and surrendered on October 11. Charge sheet was served to all the 17 accused in the case and is in trial in the Namakkal court.
