Sheila rushes to Delhi

Kerala Governor Sheila Dikshit, who rushed to New Delhi on Sunday morning after cancelling her engagements in Thiruvananthapuram, refused to divulge her future plans. All that the three-time Delhi Chief Minister would say was that she has started working on a book, telling The Hindu that she is working on the “roadmap” to the book.

Left on a ‘short vacation’

Ms. Dikshit rushed to Delhi for a ‘short vacation’ even as news about K. Sankaranarayanan’s transfer from Maharashtra to Mizoram broke, though there was no official word from the Kerala Raj Bhavan on the development.

Sources at the Raj Bhavan said the Governor is scheduled to return to the State only on Wednesday.

On being asked about her plans to return to the capital for good, Ms. Dikshit, who is staying in Kerala House in Delhi, refused to comment.

However, family members noted that though she has been keeping good health and has enjoyed her stay and work in Kerala, she may quit as Governor sooner than later. “It is abhorrent for her to be felt not welcome. She has been thinking about leaving the post for quite some time and may take a call soon. She has also planned out a few things for the near future.”

The relative said while a couple of months’ stay in Kerala was a good change for Ms. Dikshit, beyond a point it made little sense. “After all her family is here; she has lived much of her life in Delhi and this is where she is at home, both individually and politically.”
