A Goan youth has been arrested in connection with the killing of a Nigerian national, which sparked protests by his fellowmen in Panaji, police said on Wednesday.

The special investigation squad arrested Surendra Pal on Tuesday night for hacking Obodo Uzoma Simon to death along with others in Parra village, last week.

Pal was arrested from Chapora in north Goa.

His murder has led to protests by Nigerians, who had blocked the national highway, creating ruckus.

Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar had claimed the murder as a drug-related crime.
