Tripura police launches probe into NIT student’s death

Police have launched investigation into the mysterious death of a student at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) campus near Agartala on Wednesday.

Rahul Kumar who hailed from Bihar was found unconscious at his hostel bathroom and later declared dead when taken to government GB Hospital.

The second year student of electronics and communications department in the premier engineering institute had not past complaint of any major ailment, a police officer said. “We are waiting for the post-mortem report to know exact reason of death, but we have already involved in preliminary investigation”, he said.

Reports said the 21 year old ill fated student went to bathroom in the morning and his fellow students broke into when he did not make an exit after a considerable time. Rahul Kumar was found lying unconscious and was taken to GB Hospital in Agartala following advice of a local doctor.

Doctors at the GB Hospital however instantly pronounced him brought dead. Apparently no injury mark was visible on his body.

A pall of gloom descends at the erstwhile Tripura Engineering College which was elevated to NIT some eight year ago. A teacher remembered Rahul Kumar as a brilliant and attentive student of the institute.
