Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar on Monday appealed to insurgents to shun the path of violence and join mainstream to create a developed State.
Unfurling the tri-colour at the Assam Rifles ground here, Mr. Sarkar said though insurgency has been contained up to a certain level there was no reason to believe that it was completely crushed.
“I appeal to the misguided youths to shun the path of violence and join normal life and participate to create a developed Tripura,” Mr. Sarkar said.

The ultras were still using the soil of neighbouring Bangladesh, cutting the barbed wire fencing to enter Indian territory and kidnapping people for ransom,” he said.
The Chief Minister said Tripura was a backward State but it was showing the sign of development in many sectors.
He appealed to all section of people irrespective of politics, caste and creed to play their positive role for advancement and development of the State.
