Tribal activist Soni Sori threatened again

February 27, 2016 01:01 am | Updated September 06, 2016 10:24 am IST - RAIPUR:

Tribal activist and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Soni Sori, who is currently undergoing treatment in New Delhi after an attack on her last week, received “threats” on Thursday night.

“Some unknown persons threw handwritten pamphlets at her residence in Geedam town of Dantewada on Thursday night. They said security guards won’t save her kids. The pamphlets were thrown in the presence of three policemen who have been deployed at her residence after last week’s attack,” Mr. Sanket Thakur, convener of AAP, Chhattisgarh, said in a statement.

The pamphlet reads: “Don’t be happy with the security guards for your daughter. Don’t forget, you have other sons and sisters.”

The tribal activist was given ‘Y’ category security by the Chhattisgarh police after “an acid-like” chemical was thrown on her on February 19, near Bastanar village of Dantewada. Ms. Sori, however, refused to take the protection.

Meanwhile, Chhattisgarh police have formed a team of three IPS officers to probe the attack.

The team will consist of Sukma Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Santosh Singh, Bijapur ASP Kalyaan Elesela and Dantewada CSP Damaynti Kashyap, said a press release from Bastar police.
