A Class III student of a government-aided primary school at Basanti in West Bengal’s South 24 Parganas district, who was hospitalised after allegedly beaten up by a teacher on Wednesday, died in a hospital here on Friday.

Bapi Joardar (10), student of Nirdeshkhali Notunpara Sishu Siksha Kendra, was allegedly beaten up by Champa Mondal.

According to some students, the teacher banged the boy’s head against the wall when Joardar was playing around with his bag with another student. Soon the child started vomiting and became unconscious. He was admitted to a local hospital, but as his condition worsened, he was brought to a city hospital and from there shifted to the hospital where he died of his head injury.
