Swine flu claims one more life in WB, toll rises to eight

Swine flu has claimed one more life in West Bengal, taking the toll to eight since January this year even as three fresh cases were reported in the state, a senior health official said today.

“A child who was admitted to the BC Roy Memorial Hospital for Children on February 12 died on Saturday. His condition was quite critical and was put under ventilation since then. We have eight deaths due to swine flu in the state since January this year,” Principal Secretary (Health and Family Welfare) Moloy Dey told PTI .

Three new patients from the city tested positive for swine flu and were admitted to a government hospital, he said, adding that the total number of people infected has reached 115.

Meanwhile, nine patients were released from different hospitals in the state after they completely recovered from the disease, Mr. Dey said.

Earlier, 55 patients were released after their recovery.
