June 04, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - SHIMLA:

A student leader was attacked with some sharp-edged weapons in what is believed to be another AVBP-SFI clash on Tuesday evening. He has been admitted to the Indira Gandhi Medical College Hospital, said Vijendra Mehra, a former Himachal University SFI president.

The attack took place at the Summer Hill square when the student, Jeeta Singh Negi, was going to preside over a cultural function of the tribal students’ association of Lahaul-Spiti district. Mr. Negi, a SFI activist, is also a lawyer.

Condemning the attack, Tribal Students Association (TSA) president Vijay Singh said tribal students have faced racial abuses earlier also. “We fear a backlash from ABVP activists,” said the TSA. The district police have registered an FIR in the case.
