Solving old papers helped, says Pranav Goyal.

Family and relatives of Pranav Goyal, who topped IIT-JEE exam 2018, celebrate in Chandigarh on June 10, 2018.

Pranav Goyal, who topped the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced, let out the secret of his success — stay calm and be focused.

He bagged the first rank by scoring 337 marks out of 360 in the examination.

“If you focus well, your study hours won’t really matter. So, just stay focused and calm. Have faith in your teachers and their guidance, and always ensure that your knowledge is conceptually sound,” an excited Pranav told the media.

Pranav, student of a private school in Panchkula, said solving the previous years’ papers helped in getting an insight into the pattern of the examination. He said that he was not a ‘bookworm’ and made sure that he got his daily dose of entertainment. “While studying for 7 to 10 hours a day, I never missed out on my 40 odd-minute dose of entertainment before bedtime. I used to watch cartoons and read books to de-stress,” Pranav said.

“I want to study computer science engineering from IIT Bombay,” he added.

Pranav, whose father is a businessman, was also the tricity (Chandigarh-Panchkula-Mohali) topper in CBSE Class 12th board examination with 97.2%.
