The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested a dismissed Additional District Magistrate, Jayshree Thakur, who is one of the accused persons in the Bihar’s Srijan scam.
“Despite repeated summonses, Ms. Thakur had not been joining the probe. The agency then moved the court and got a non-bailable warrant against her. She has now been arrested and sent to judicial custody,” said a CBI official.
Ms. Thakur has been booked in the Srijan scam cases as the then Banka district’s land acquisition officer. She had earlier been accused by the State’s Economic Offences Wing of having amassed crores beyond her known sources of income.

The CBI has registered multiple cases against Srijan Mahila Vikas Sahyog Samiti Limited, its office-bearers and others, including bank managers and land acquisition officers, for alleged diversion and misuse of government funds.
It is alleged that the organisation, which gave vocational training to women, diverted the funds to its accounts between 2004 and 2013, in connivance with the bank and State government officials.
Based on the CBI cases, the Enforcement Directorate is conducting a money laundering probe and has identified about 90 immovable properties, including several flats located in the National Capital Region and assets in different parts of Bihar, for initiating action under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.

The ED has found that the accused persons had, in several cases, invested the funds in various assets, booked profits and also returned the principal amounts to the government exchequer to evade detection. A part of the profit was paid off as a cut to public servants and the rest kept by them.
