An Indian Parliamentary delegation, led by Speaker of Lok Sabha Sumitra Mahajan, is participating in the meetings of 132nd Assembly of Inter Parliamentary Union.
While addressing the Assembly in Hanoi on the overall theme “Sustainable Development Goals: Turning words into action”, Ms. Mahajan expressed the view that the agenda of the Assembly is a unique opportunity for the international community to redouble its commitment for ending poverty and hunger and to set the world on the path to sustainable development.
She also expressed concern over the uneven achievement of Millennium Development Goals across different regions of the World. She urged the international community to aim for more equitable growth while addressing environmental issues.
