Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan met President Pratibha Patil on Friday and urged to give her assent to the Madhya Pradesh Vishesh Nyayalaya Vidheyak 2011 (Special Courts Bill, 2011), adding that any delay in this would unnecessarily deprive the State of an effective tool to combat corruption.
The Madhya Pradesh Vidhan Sabha passed the bill in the recently concluded session and has sent it to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs on 13 April, 2011.
The President told Mr. Chauhan that the bill had yet to come to her office and that she would give her approval as soon as her office received it.

Mr. Chauhan informed the President that the Bill provides for an effective deterrent against corrupt public servants and expeditious disposal of cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. It also provides for the confiscation of property of corrupt officials acquired through corrupt means and the utilisation of such property for public good.
Mr. Chauhan also said the State Government was trying to create transparent and effective systems of governance where chances of corruption would be nullified and the Madhya Pradesh Vishesh Nyayalaya Vidheyak, 2011, would surely prove to be an effective step towards curbing corruption in public life.
The CM told the President that given the ongoing public outcry against corruption, her assent to the Bill would send out a positive message.
