Shahjahanabad, thrice as nice

April 19, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:46 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Many Delhiites are oblivious to the rich heritage the city is fortunate to call its own and may simply pass by a structure that has been around since medieval times without stopping to find out what exactly it is.

To sensitise the residents and visitors about monuments that are an integral part of the city, Delhi Tourism, in association with INTACH, India City Walks and Delhi I Love You, launched a heritage auto-rickshaw tour at gate no. 3 of Jama Masjid on Sunday, the eve of World Heritage Day .

Tourism Minister Kapil Mishra flagged off a heritage rickshaw tour that seeks to present an opportunity to showcase a truer perspective of Delhi’s remarkable heritage. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Mishra said: “The initiative seeks to spread awareness about the rich heritage of the Capital. Besides, heritage walks promote a healthy habit — walking. We will continue similar events and are soon going to start these walks across Delhi.”
