Sanskrit scholar Prabhu Nath Dwivedi from Uttar Pradesh has won the Sahitya Akademi Award for 2014 for his collection of 16 short stories, Kanakalochanaha .
An author of four books, Dwivedi has worked as a Professor at Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapeeth, Varanasi. In 2012, he served as a member of the selection committee for the akademi’s prize for translation.
The award for Sanskrit is the last of the 24 awards to be announced. The award, comprising an engraved copper plaque, a shawl and a cheque for Rs. 1 lakh, will be given away during the Festival of Letters in Delhi in March.
