Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi met Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagavat in Nagpur on Sunday amid speculations of his projection as prime ministerial candidate during the next general elections.
Mr. Modi came by an early morning flight and directly went to Hedgewar Bhavan.
“After a long gap, I had planned to meet Mohan Bhagavatji, Bhayyaji Joshi and Sureshji Soni. We discussed different issues for about three-and-half hours. It was a happy discussion,” he told journalists.“I am also a Swayamsevak and RSS headquarters is a worshipping place for all Swayamsevaks. So naturally, we speak our mind here.”

On speculations about his projection as prime ministerial candidate and whether the meet was to seek the RSS support, he said “I don’t know if our country has any such candidacy.”
To another query, he said, “The RSS doesn’t get involved in politics; politics is neither their subject nor area.”
Asked about BJP MP Ram Jethmalani’s suggestion that he (Mr. Modi) be projected as prime ministerial candidate, Mr. Modi did not answer and left the venue, saying “thank you friends.” Some sources said the former Gujarat Chief Minister, Keshubhai Patel, and Govardhan Jadaphia‘s activities in the State ahead of the Assembly elections came in for discussion at Mr. Modi’s meeting with the RSS chief.
