Just two days after a Mumbai court refused to allow the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to drop former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Ashok Chavan’s name from its list of accused in the Adarsh case, he attended the State Congress’ Parliamentary board meeting on Monday.
The Parliamentary board would be suggesting names of the candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.
“He is a member of our party and a senior leader. There are allegations against him, but he has not been found guilty. He will continue to work with the party,” Manikrao Thackeray, president, Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee, told

He added that Mr. Chavan would be given appropriate responsibility in the elections.
The judicial inquiry commission set up to probe the Adarsh scam had accused Mr. Chavan of taking a decision in favour of the society and in return deriving benefits for his close relatives.
