: The Haryana government on Friday appointed a two-member Commission of Inquiry to look into the sequence of events that led to nearly a week of violence, from February 18 to 23, in Rohtak, Jhajjar, Sonepat, Jind, Hisar, Kaithal and Bhiwani during the Jat agitation. Aside from large-scale damage to property, as many as 30 people were killed and over 200 injured in the Jat agitation for reservation.
The Commission is headed by Justice (Retd.) S.N. Jha, former Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court and Rajasthan High Court.
The panel would also inquire into existence of a deep-rooted conspiracy, if any, to damage the social fabric of the society and any such matter as may be found relevant in the course of the inquiry.

The other member of the commission is former IPS officer N.C. Pandhi, who was Secretary (Security).
Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar had announced in the House during the recent Budget Session of the State Assembly that a Judicial Inquiry would be ordered to inquire into the recent incidents of arson and disturbances during the agitation for reservation.
