The police on Tuesday cracked the rape case of a foreigner by arresting a history-sheeter from the city’s Raey Road area. Badshah alias Anwar Ali Ansari (30) had been arrested previously in house-breaking and robbery cases.
Police sources said the 27-year-old victim, believed to be Spanish, has identified the accused.
He was recently arrested for burgling actor Dino Morea’s house in Bandra. The police, after arresting him on October 29, seized goods worth Rs. 17 lakh from him. But a local court granted him bail soon, thereafter. Police said more than 30 cases have been registered against him till date.

After the police rescued the victim from her bathroom, a case of rape, robbery and house-breaking was filed against the accused.
The police had formed eight teams to crack the case. More than 50 persons were rounded up and questioned by the police in a massive manhunt in the city’s Bandra area. Police said they had made a list of the history-sheeters and habitual offenders in the area.
