J&K High Court conveyed inability to spare a sitting judge

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday asked Union Law Minister Salman Khursheed to suggest the name of a retired Supreme Court Judge to conduct enquiry into the custodial death of National Conference worker Syed Mohammad Yousuf.

The development followed the J&K High Court having refused to spare a sitting judge for the purpose.

Emphasising the urgency and sensitivities involved in the matter, the Chief Minister has sought an early response to enable the State government to proceed with the constitution of the Commission at the earliest.
