Omar reviews restoration measures taken in snow-hit areas

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday reviewed the restoration measures in areas affected by snowfall in the Kashmir valley, and asked officials to be prepared to respond to the requirements of people on all counts.

The Chief Minister was briefed about restoration of important public services, including clearing of snow-hit roads and national highways, supply of power, drinking water and essential commodities, functioning of health institutions, an official spokesman said.

Asking officials to be vigilant of hoarders who use “unfavourable situation to create false scarcity and increase prices”, he directed officials to ensure availability of all essential commodities across the Valley and do a regular check of markets.

Briefing the Chief Minister, officials told him that adequate essential commodities sufficient for one month were stocked in the Valley besides kerosene and LPG.
