Officials held taking bribe

Vigilance sleuths trapped a government official and a peon in Boudh district of Odisha on Monday afternoon while they were accepting bribe to issue work order for construction of toilet in the house of a villager under Swachh Bharat Mission.

The arrested persons were Utkal Kumar Bastia, consultant of Boudh district Water and Sanitation Mission and Maguni Moharana, a peon.

According to Superintendent of Berhampur vigilance division, Manoranjan Panda, the two arrested persons had demanded bribe worth 1000 rupees from one Raghunath Kalta of Dangapada village in Boudh district to issue work order in favour of his son for construction of a toilet in his house under Swachh Bharat Yojana.
