The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Reformation) has expelled its army chief Jackson Pochury for alleged anti-social and anti-national activities.
The NSCN (R), a breakaway faction of the NSCN (Khaplang), was formed in April 2015.
A statement issued by the NSCN (R)’s information ministry said Mr Pochury violated the constitution of the group by threatening the collective leadership of dire consequences and had hatched plots to form a “parallel organisation”.

The outfit also apologised to its members and the Naga people for letting “such unreliable person lead the Naga Army”. It also requested the Pochury community not to misconstrue the action against him as tribe-specific step.
Mr Pochury was the second top-rung leader across the NSCN factions to have been removed this year. In August, the NSCN (K) had impeached its chairman Khango Konyak, forcing him and some 100 followers to cross over to the country from their clandestine camps in Myanmar.
Mr Konyak had been appointed chairman of NSCN (K) a month after the outfit’s chief Shanwang Shangnyu Khaplang died in June 2017.

On Monday, the Centre held a meeting with Mr Konyak in New Delhi for the possible inclusion of the NSCN (K) in the Naga peace process.
