North East Regional Political Front extends support to BJP

A day ahead of the results for the Lok Sabha polls, the North-East Regional Political Front (NERPF) a collective of ten regional parties announced its support for the BJP.

The announcement was made by party president Rajnath Singh. “The North-East Regional Political Front (NERPF) has decided to pledge its support to the NDA in forming a stable government at the Centre. Nagaland CM Neiphiu Rio has conveyed this message through a letter to me. I am thankful to him for the NERPF support to the NDA,” he tweeted.

Ahead of the general elections, 10 regional parties in the North East had come together as the North East Regional Political Front (NERPF). Apart from the NPF and AGP, other members of NERPF include Hills State Democratic Party, Meghalaya United Democratic Party, Manipur Peoples Party, Manipur State Congress Party, Manipur Democratic Peoples Front, Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura, Peoples Party of Arunachal and Mizo National Front.

The BJP has already said that it welcome even one MP of any political party who agrees with its agenda. With the support of the NERPF, the party is hopeful of getting support from other parties as well.

The BJP has gone all out to woo political parties in the North East, it created separate manifestoes for each of the North Eastern states and assures of inclusive growth and development.
