Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was shown black flag on Tuesday during his visit to Muzaffarpur to lay foundation stone for projects at a government hospital. The protesters also threw ink at his cavalcade.

A handful of protesters belonging to “Garib Jankranti Party” showed black flag and threw ink at Mr. Kumar’s cavalcade near Sri Krishna Medical College and Hospital (SKMCH) in Muzaffarpur. The protesters shouted anti-government slogans. Over 100 poor children had died in June due to suspected Acute Encephalitis Syndrome in the hospital.

“Yes, we have shown black flag and thrown ink at Nitish Kumar’s cavalcade… we will continue to do so until the situation at the government hospital improves… here poor people from remote areas come for medical treatment but there is no facility here… so they have no option but to die,” president of the Garib Jankranti Party, Vikas Krishna, told local journalists. Police have taken two members of the outfit into custody.
