Fireworks named after Prime Minister Narendra Modi are in more demand than the Nitish bomb and the Lalu bomb in the Diwali bazaar of Patna city. The NaMo bomb and the NaMo chakri are the most sought-after brand this festival time.

Earlier, the Nitish bomb was making more buzz and sound than the Lalu bomb in the Diwali bazaar in Patna, which serves the wholesale market for firecrackers in the State.

“NaMo bombs and NaMo chakris are selling like hot cakes. Sales of the brand has picked up more after the Maharashtra and Haryana Assembly polls”, said Arvind Kumar, a shopkeeper. Nanku Alam, another shopkeeper, said though bombs and ‘phuljharis’ (sparklers) are also named after Nitish Kumar and Lalu Prasad, it is the Modi wave here too.

“Modi brand of crackers are the first choice for the buyers. They pick up only those bombs and chakris bearing Modi’s name or his picture”, he said. The firecracker packets have pictures of Mr. Modi holding sparklers. “Like Mr. Modi has become a brand unto himself, we too picked up the Modi brand of crackers to celebrate our Diwali,” said a group of friends who were shopping.
