Mulayam admitted to hospital with swine flu symptoms

Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh has been admitted to Medanta Hospital in Gurgaon with suspected symptoms of swine flu.

He was shifted to the hospital on Friday night after a series of tests in Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences here. He had complained of uneasiness and breathlessness.

Party spokesman and Political Pensions Minister Rajendra Chaudhary said in a statement on Saturday that Mr. Singh was being examined under the supervision of Dr. Naresh Trehan.

“Netaji has been advised three days rest by the doctors,” Mr. Chaudhary said. “There is no cause for concern about his health.”

Mr. Singh was taken to the hospital here with fever and suspected urinary infection on Wednesday. He was discharged the same night after tests, but brought back around 1.30 p.m. on Thursday after he complained of breathlessness. He was discharged around 8 p.m. the same day.
