Monsoon hits Orissa

The much-awaited monsoon on Monday hit the Orissa coast and conditions are favourable for further advancement of the system, official sources said.

“The southwest monsoon has advanced today, the 13th of June, 2011 into some parts of south coastal districts of Orissa,” said Director of the local branch of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) S. Sahu.

Stating that the conditions are favourable for further advancement of southwest monsoon into remaining parts of the State during the next two-three days, Mr. Sahu said the Northern Limit of Monsoon (NLM) passes through Porbandar, Veraval, Dahanu, Nasik, Gulbarga, Rentachintala, Kalingapatnam, Puri and Dhubri and Gangtok.
