Former Tehelka Editor Tarun Tejpal who is facing charges of sexual assault by a junior female colleague, withdrew his anticipatory bail petition on Saturday. Tejpal had filed the bail plea before the District and Sessions Court at Margao on March 6 after the Mormugao police had registered a case against him for illegally possessing and using a mobile phone inside jail. A mobile phone with SIM card was seized from Tejpal’s cell in the Sada sub-jail at Vasco in south Goa where he has been lodged in judicial custody during a surprise inspection on February 22.

The Tehelka co-founder has spent over 115 days in prison after he was arrested on November 30 last year by the Goa police.
