Seven workers of the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) were arrested on Tuesday for allegedly assaulting the parent of a north Indian student seeking admission to a school in Satara on Monday. According to the Satara police, seven men, including MNS district unit president Ranjit Bhosale, were remanded in police custody for three days.
Senior Inspector Ravindra Pisal said nobody from the school, not even the victims, came forward to register a complaint, and therefore the FIR was registered by the police themselves. The party workers had assaulted the parent for allegedly providing a fake age certificate for obtaining admission to Sainaik School.
The MNS workers were booked for assault, rioting and obstructing government servants on duty. Mr. Pisal said five other accused were on the run.

The incident occurred at the Satara Civil Hospital where a medical examination of the boys seeking admission to Standard VI was being held.
The MNS activists stated that boys from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, as old as 15, had fake proofs stating they were 10 and 11. After conducting an identification parade, the MNS workers allegedly roughed up a parent, who hailed from Uttar Pradesh, and was accompanying his son for the mandatory medical check-up.
