Bahujan Samajwadi Party supremo Mayawati on Sunday said voting BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi to power would make the country vulnerable to riots.
“Mr. Modi is such a person who has been accused of 2002 Godhra riots. If such a non-secular person becomes the PM, the country will become vulnerable to riots,” she said addressing a rally on the Somaiya Ground here.
Targeting the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh for failing to curb riots, Ms. Mayawati said that during her tenure there were no instances of communal violence. “The law and order situation during our tenure was commendable. If you vote us to power then we will ensure that such law and order conditions prevail not only in U.P. but also across the country.”

She was critical of the Congress-NCP government of Maharashtra and said it had failed to provide adequate security to migrants.
“The State government has only helped the rich become richer and the poor and the downtrodden are pushed to live a life worst than that of animals. They cannot even afford two square meals a day.”
She said both the Congress and the BJP had failed to work for the betterment of the poor and Backward Classes.
