: Maoist leader Sabyasachi Panda and two others were acquitted by Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate (SDJM) court of Berhampur on Wednesday in an illegal arms seizure case.

The court acquitted them due to dearth of evidence, said defense counsel Dipak Patnaik. “The prosecution has decided to appeal against this acquittal in the court of District Sessions Judge of Ganjam,” said Associate Public Prosecutor (APP) Pradeep Behera. The other two acquitted along with Sabyasachi in this case were Sunil Pradhan and Aditya Moharana. Four persons are accused in this case. The court has issued a warrant to record the statement of Benudhar Barik, the fourth accused, who is on bail.

This case was related to the seizure of two revolvers in Berhampur on September 7, 2011.
