Accusing Trinamool Congress chairperson and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of lacking principles, seeking to fight the Congress with the support of parties she has been opposing like the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Communist Party of India (Marxist), the Congress State leadership here ridiculed her proposed no-confidence motion against the United Progressive Alliance government.
“With 19 MPs and (those of) some other political parties Ms Banerjee is wrong to think that she can topple the UPA government. It is not possible”, State Congress chief Pradip Bhattacharya said on Sunday.
“People of West Bengal will never believe her in the future when she says she is opposed to the CPI(M); those of India and West Bengal will know she is lying if in future she opposes the BJP)”, he said

While announcing here on Saturday her party’s decision to move a no-confidence motion against the UPA government when Parliament re-convenes on November 22 Ms Banerjee had said that she would also seek the support of, among others, that of the BJP and CPI(M).
“She has directly sought the support of the BJP. What does this mean? …She had once staid it was untouchable, then she spoke a lot in its favour; again she described it (the BJP) as a communal party and , today, is joining hands with it. What is in store for West Bengal if it has a government whose Chief Minister is without principles and irresponsible?” Mr Bhattacharya wondered.
The Congress will organise demonstrations across the State on November 22 to express its protest and condemnation, the day the Trinamool Congress plans to move the no-confidence motion in Parliament.

“We will tell the people how unprincipled the government she leads is. Such a government can have the support of the people, he said, adding that the Congress would go in a for a widespread and sustained agitation against the Trinanool Congress government across the State”, he asserted.
Mr Bhattacharya also came own strongly against the State government for “totally vitiating the industrial atmosphere” in West Bengal and whose “abduction policy” is causing anxiety and fear industry circles. He was referring to three officers of a cargo-handling company operating at the Haldia docks were allegedly abducted and later told at gun-point to leave the town last month.
“The future of industry in the State is dark”, he said even as he announced the Congress’ plans to begin from Haldia a State-wide pro-industry campaign across the State.
“The government has failed to determine and announce a land policy as yet and claim to have set up a land-bank. But where is the land-bank….It is without direction and after listening to what its Chief Minister says and does one finds no sign of any plans at reconstructing the State”, Mr Bhattacharya said.
“We will show this government that we remaining silent as she (Ms Banerjee) continues to utter lies cannot carry on…We are inviting Union Minister of Rural Development Jairam Ramesh to Lalgarh – once epicentre of Maoist activity in southwest West Bengal – on December 8. It will then be revealed how much funds for rural development has been provided to the State and how much of it is being actually utilised”, he added.
