The Special Court on Friday adjourned the hearing on former Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamat’s anticipatory bail plea till August 12 in the Louis Berger bribery case. The case came up for hearing on Friday when the Crime Branch produced before the Court its reply opposing Mr. Kamat”s plea.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar has reiterated his statement that the probe in the Louis Berger bribery case will continue without fear or favour.

Mr. Parsekar said this in response to apprehensions raised by Leader of the Opposition Pratap Singh Rane in the State Legislative Assembly on Friday that there was a selective leaking of information, rumour mongering and things like arrests at mid night all amounting to belittling of the democratic institutions.

Mr. Rane later outside the State Assembly reiterated the stand of the Congress that the case must be handed over to the CBI for a fair and impartial probe. The former Chief Minister said that the police cannot behave the way they did by arresting some people at midnight in the case. He alleged character assassination of the Opposition by the BJP government in Goa.
