Life disrupted in Uttarakhand

Snowfall and rains disrupted life as they continued to lash Uttarakhand for over 24 hours with Devprayag and Dehradun receiving heavy rainfall of 72.2 mm and 71.6 mm respectively, on Monday morning, Director of the Dehradun Meteorological Centre Anand Sharma said.

Snowfall was experienced at places above 2,500 metres, including Kedarnath, where it disrupted the ongoing reconstruction work.

Mr. Sharma said: “We had issued warnings related to rainfall and snowfall in Uttarakashi, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Chamoli districts for March 1 and 2. Light to moderate rains will be experienced across Uttarakhand, on March 3, and the weather will improve March 4 onwards.”

After hours of incessant rains, landslide at Lambagar in Chamoli district and various places in Uttarkashi were reported, on Monday.
