“Massive” laser show to mark Maharashtra golden jubilee

The skyline of Mumbai will come alive with the most exotic laser show the country has ever witnessed on the evening of May 1, the 50th foundation anniversary of the State, Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) officials claimed on Tuesday.

“MTDC is all set to exhibit a massive laser show ’Mahatej’ along the coastal strip of South Mumbai to mark the Golden Jubilee year of the State, they said.

The laser show, which will span over the long stretch of Marine Drive to Raj Bhavan with a blend of classic music and fireworks, will narrate the evolution of Maharashtra economically, socially and culturally in last 50 years, the officials said.

‘Mahatej’ would be followed by ‘Suvarna Maharashtra’, a cultural programme depicting cultural, social and historical heritage of the State, they said.

Around 200 artistes of Yuvak Biradari will present dance and music performances in the show, they said.

‘Suvarna Maharashtra’ has been written and directed by Ashok Hande. A galaxy of Marathi film and stage personalities will perform in this show, which would be projected on huge screens erected along the coast of Marine Drive.
