Landslide snaps road link, cars swept away in Mizoram

Massive landslide on the World Bank funded Aizawl-Lunglei Road blocked the highway late last night and swept away two vehicles in Mizoram’s Aizawl district.

Superintendent of Police Lalbiakthanga Khiangte said no one was killed or injured in the landslide which also swept away an automobile workshop at Ngaizel near Aizawl.

Smaller landslips were also reported in and around Aizawl as the pre-monsoon downpours hit the State unabated since Saturday snapping telecommunication and power lines in some places.
