Uttarakhand Chief Minister B. C. Khanduri, who bit the dust in the State Assembly election, today resigned from the post.
The BJP leader submitted his resignation to Governor Margaret Alva who asked him to continue till the formation of a new government in the State, a Raj Bhavan release said.
The Assembly election in the State ended in a dead heat with the Congress bagging 32 seats and the ruling BJP 31.

Mr. Khanduri was also humbled when Surendra Singh Negi of the Congress defeated him by a margin of 4,632 votes from Kotdwar constituency.
