The Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha has said it will convert inter-religious couples to Hinduism on Valentine’s Day (February 14) across the country. Interestingly, a part of the package the Hindutva outfit is offering to couples following different religions includes “quick and easy” marriage as per the Hindu religion.
According to its national general secretary Munna Kumar Sharma, if either of the couple belongs to a religion other than Hinduism, Mahasabha volunteers would do his/her “ghar wapsi” and perform the marriage as per the Hindu religion. The latest strategy, claimed Mr. Sharma, would be a weapon against “love jihad”.
The Mahasabha will especially focus on the national Capital and western Uttar Pradesh. It has recruited 200 volunteers for identifying inter-religious couples on Valentine’s Day. “This is the best way to deal with love jihad. If the Muslim or Christian partner, boy or girl, really loves the Hindu partner, let him or her convert to Hinduism and prove their love,” Mr. Sharma asserted.

Mr. Sharma clarified that Mahasabha volunteers would not force the inter-religious couples to convert to Hinduism and would only “convince” them about it.
But if the non-Hindu partner of an inter-religious couple did not agree to convert to Hinduism, Mr. Sharma said the volunteers “will have to inform the parents of the Hindu partner about the ongoing love affair.”
“We can’t force people to convert and get married. But we can save the Hindu girl or the boy from being corrupted,” he said.

The right wing group has formed over 20 teams which will be active in the next two days in the national capital as well as western Uttar Pradesh and will spread to the smaller towns and cities in the region to identify inter-religious couples in the run-up to the Valentine’s Day.
